Between 1996 and 2002 I completed my Bachelor of Visual Arts, Graduate Diploma of Arts (Visual) and my Master of Visual Arts degrees. I am fiercely passionate about my art and paint daily, aiming for 'perfection' (?) and to feel/experience something greater than I can comprehend, intensified by the music I always listen to and feed off while painting. The medium I use is oils on canvas, with the subject matter based on Middle Eastern landscapes, Islamic ornament and pattern, other various ancient art and surreal and abstract forms. The imagery is presented in a semi-realistic manner with a slight surrealist bent. Currently, I have had a number of solo exhibitions in Melbourne and in regional Victoria, Australia, as well as work displayed at various galleries on a semi-permanent basis. I continue to submit entries to art prizes in Victoria. Just as Islamic art and the desert landscape have long struck a sharp chord within, so has music. It is a huge aspect of the creative process and I am most influenced and stirred by the music of Secret Chiefs 3, The Tea Party, Stuart Chatwood, Mike Patton, Chris Cornell, VAST, Queensryche, Al Qaynah, Devin Townsend, Perry Farrell and Arabic music. I hope one day to make a career in art and writing. As of Feb.2008 I am represented by an art agent. Music is a huge passion of mine and I used to play bass guitar in a heavy metal band and then writing and recording with a friend of mine. I'm intensely interested in ancient Roman history, especially in regards to the military and Julius Caesar. I am currently working on a novel centered on the last century of the Roman Republic, primarily Gaius Julius Caesar as well as the other major figures of the time. I would like to turn this novel, or expand some sections, into a screenplay.
