In order to get to that level of success, many people have to attend casting calls, but only a few actually get to that next level. One of the biggest reasons why so many models don’t make it to that next level of success is because they don’t know how to properly attend a model casting call. A casting call is the one shot that you get at impressing a casting agent and getting booked for a gig.Step1 Make sure you are groomed. This may seem like a no-brainer but many people go to model calls with their roots showing and in need of a shave. Before you go to any model call, make sure your hair is freshly done, styled, cut, shaved, etc. Don’t think you will just get by on your good looks. There will be lots of good looking people at the model call. Gentlemen, make sure you are neatly shaven. If you are growing a beard, that’s fine but make sure it is nicely lined up and neat.Step2 Wear clothes that flatter you. Seriously. Wear clothes that BEST compliment your shape. If you are unsure, set up an appointment with a stylist and get some tips on how to dress your body type. If you can’t afford a stylist, get a fashionable friend to help you. Don’t be fooled into thinking that because you may be tall and thin, you can wear anything. Get some outside assistance to look your best.Step3 Keep it simple. Your makeup, hairstyle or haircut and clothes MUST be simple and basic. Don’t overdo it. Don’t try to make yourself stand out by doing something crazy like wearing a lot of loud colors or a Mohawk. You will stand out, but that may not be what the casting agent is looking for. They want to see you, not your outfit or makeup. Step4 Be confident. You want to be a model so show it. Modeling is not an industry that applauds modesty. Don’t be intimidated by the beautiful people there. You’re beautiful too so show those casting agents what you have to offer!Quality photographs are crucial for any model. They are your first impression on clients and future employers, and can determine how much work you receive as a model. Be sure to find a professional photographer that you trust, and discuss the goals of your shoot before you begin.Your photos say a lot about you. They give clients insight into your personality, style, and professionalism, so be sure the photos you choose accurately reflect who you are. Do not submit photos that are poorly exposed, out of focus, un-cropped, or out of date. Choose photos that accentuate your best features, and show your face and body clearly.Clients are often looking for a very specific look. In order to grab their attention, it is important to have variety of looks in your photos. Work with a photographer that understands this, and is willing to experiment with different poses, lighting, angles, and locations. Remember, your photos are your selling point, and the first step towards building a profitable career
