Stepping into the past whislt heading towards the future, amongst its influences (preferably by the band called “referencesâ€) are the likes of Kraftwerk, Joy Division, The Smiths, New Order as well as Low, Ladytron, Radiohead, Sigur Rós, etc.terrorturbo are Gilmar monte (voice and programming), Marcelo Merçon (synths), André Graciotti (guitars) and Raphael Cuquetto (bass). And they are from Brazil, living in the southeast bit of the country, by the ocean, in a state called Espirito Santo.Every little detail in terrorturbo’s music is thought up to be stimulating, exciting, touching, aiming at bringing to the listener’s mind empty spaces, cold far away places, to make them FEEL. The obsession with details, the extreme care with songwriting and playing the kind of music they do makes them alien to Brazil’s (alternative) music scenario. This does not make anything easier for the band in its own land. A gig is, thus, not something they do everyday. Chances do not abound.Having that in mind, in 2006 they locked up themselves in a home studio for months and sunlight was seen again only when 5 songs had been accomplished. It was called “Ep 2007†and it was their first “official†handmade release, even though some other songs had already been recorded before. Thru’ that ep’s 5 songs terrorturbo paraded their array of atmospheres: the claustrophobic “dipsomania calls†and “page 4â€, the confessional “hold on to the ones who love you†, the bouncing touches that mask the sulky “the hasty nod†and the weight of words of “my own big fishâ€.2008 sees the band release their new 4 song ep, soberly entitled “Ep 2008â€, recorded sporadically over the last 10 months. It contains “a painkiller called honestyâ€, born from a fragment that once was a lullaby, the violent’n’post-punk “the healing processâ€, the 80ish ballad “blow†and “it should be enough†with its coda all adorned by layers of synths and gripping guitar riffs
