About Me
52 Bands is a blog that started in July 2007, and is always on the lookout for bands and artists to review. No matter the genre, you have a shot of getting on 52 Bands! All you have to do is drop me a line here or on my blog, www.52bands.com, to be considered as an artist I feature for the week. Here are some things you should make sure you've got before you send me a line. These will be what helps you stand out among other bands...1. Have a great sound2. Be semi-established (no completely newbie bands, sorry!)3. Have something recorded already that I can plug4. Have tours/gigs coming up that I can talk about5. Be prepared for an interview6. Have some music you can send to me, and also perhaps some swag you'd be cool with giving away, so that you get more publicity on the blog! What will you get from me, you ask? Well, here's some of the posts I write every week for bands. They vary a bit based on what I find, but here are some examples...1. One day of just stats about the band, basics, ya know, things that people want to first know about a band.2. Discography: Anything that the band/artist has released since the beginning, including album art.3. Blogs: Some bands have blogs on their MySpace. I try and post one example, usually the newest, on my blog so they can get a feel for the character of the band.4. Merch: I like to write a little about the merch the band sells, put some images up, to try and get people interested in buying your stuff.5. Concert Special: If I go to a show, I try and write about it here, anywhere from what songs are played to how cool I think the lead singer is, haha.6. Tour Dates: This is for gigs/shows/tours, yadda yadda. It's pretty self-explanatory.7. Misc: Sometimes I'll write about what I think about one certain album, why something is of special significance to me (for example, grouping Be Your Own PET with a tattoo I just got), or whatever I think up that particular week.8. Songs of Note: I feature normally 3 songs from the band/artist that I particularly like and why. If you've read Nick Hornby's Songbook, you'll kind of see where this idea comes from.Anyway, it's a free week of publicity and it's a lot of fun, so if you'd like to be someone I feature, add me as a friend, send me a message, and tell everyone to check you out!
