I'm just an alien through & through, trying to make believe I'm you

About Me

After years of toiling away in the retail and corporate worlds, I have finally gotten back to what I do best (no comments from the peanut gallery...). I'm working my teaching certification and am teaching theatre at WT White High School in Dallas. After this school year, I intend to get back on stage where I belong and get back into acting. I also play guitar in a band here in Dallas called The Issues and we gig whenever we get the chance. Whatever time is left is spent hanging out with friends, playing guitar (and re-learning the piano), watching movies (in the theatre and indulging my Netflix addiction), and somewhere in there I try to make the world a better place for all of us (well I want to try, does that count for anything?). I have some wonderful friends but you can never have too many.

My Interests

The usual stuff: movies, music, friends, books, etc. I also like bicycling (but I currently don't own one), swimming, camping (in warm weather), travelling, and pretty much anything else you can think of that doesn't involve potential death (no sky-diving for me please)

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who has the courage to be themselves. It took me a long time to get there and I really admire people who are honest and comfortable with who they are. I'm always open to meeting new people. You never know who's going to be the next great person in your life.

Music:

I like all kinds of music but my preference is for pop/rock. Mostly old stuff. Favorite acts are Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, REM, Crowded House, The Beatles, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Elton John, The Police, Oingo Boingo, Sting, Talking Heads, Sarah McLachlan, Shawn Colvin, and Toad The Wet Sprocket. But as a general rule my favorite songs are the ones that weren't the biggest hits. I try to keep up with new stuff too. I love Coldplay as well as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Ben Folds, Gorillaz, The Scissor Sisters, Death Cab For Cutie and No Doubt (well they aren't that new but oh well...).
You Are a Glam Rocker!
You put the "show" in rock show with your larger than life self.
No doubt, you are all about making good music...
But what really gets you going is having an over the top show.
Glitter, costumes, and wild hair are your thing - with some rock thrown in! What Kind of Rocker Are You?

Movies:

..ALL OF THEM. Favorite filmmakers include Spielberg, Tim Burton, The Coen Bros, John Carpenter, Dario Argento, PT Anderson and way too many others to mention (basically anybody but that !@#$#$ Michael Bay and those !@$#$@ INDEPENDENCE DAY guys)

..

Television:

I can't help it, I like sitcoms (at least the good ones). Some of my favorite shows are CHEERS, FRIENDS, SOAP, TWIN PEAKS, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (well, up until the mid 90's, then it started to REALLY go downhill), ER, SEINFELD, FRASIER, FREAKS & GEEKS, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, WILL & GRACE, and MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS. I watch AMERICAN IDOL, but mostly I watch "Adult Swim" on Cartoon Network so I can see FAMILY GUY, FUTURAMA and AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE. I also really like CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, DEADWOOD and REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER on HBO. Mostly though I watch DVD's (either from my collection or Netflix) when I'm home.

Books:

I've got plenty of new books to read so there may be some new names to drop here. Recently I've read ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY by David Sedaris (loved it) and of coure now I'm back to reading plays for school stuff. Some of my favorites include THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, PURE DRIVEL by Steve Martin, HIGH FIDELITY by Nick Hornby, THE STAND or THE DEAD ZONE by Stephen King. and RED DRAGON by Thomas Harris

Heroes:

I'll let you know when more of them leap to mind

Subtract Two Wheels and a Bunch of Headaches

For some time (ever since gas prices started getting really out of hand) I’ve been saying that eventually I would have to do something about it.  Well fate has apparently intervened.  ...

Having It All

OK so 2007 has come and gone.  At this time last year, I was in a job that could barely keep me awake (literally), I was broke, I had no creative outlets, and my most serious relationship in life...
