Hey there! I am Gustavo the voice of the Gothic band ALAYDHA this profile is about my old gothic band "El Clan" but you can also check out my current band Alaydha on this profile, here is the the story about my old band, The original El Clan was a notorious Gothic band in Mexico City back in 1993. The band was created by me, who became the lead singer of the band. It all started when I met Pedro Alvarez, the bass player of the heavy metal band "Azul de Media Noche" (Midnight Blue), and Pedro introduced me to his bandmates who were on the look out of a singer, this is when I met Jaime, Victor and Israel. They invited me to jam with them, we played around here and there making music and later on I told them about my project "El Clan", they all loved the idea but it was quite adjustment and change due to their current style was solid metal, but thanks to their great talent we were able to work something out, later on Sergio Lucano joined the band on the keyboards, that was one more great addition! the whole idea was to create a gothic band able to give a theatrical performance based on dark opera, magical communion and diverse forms of gothic music and artistic show, also to get together a large group of people, a family a "Clan" with all those who wanted to expand and preserve the human conscience for positive creativity, and expose the duality of all the hidden things of nature; Life/death, up/down, black/white, men/women, right/left and so on. we did it! and so "El Clan" was formed. "El Clan" was notorious for it's unique performance, metaphorical lyrics and unusual presentation of caracters on the stage like poppet goblings, fire, insence, candles, monks,witches, etc. The band signed a record deal with Latin Sony Music/Epic/Dodo in 1993. Their first album titled "Sin Sentir/No Feeling", had on the front cover of the album a picture of a large, uncommon pair of masks, this emblem represented a vision that I had when I came up with the idea of "El Clan". The "Sin Sentir" album sold 5000 copies right away out the door, and later it was sold out! After this there was a great impact on Mexico's underground Rock Scene. "El Clan" continued performing and touring all around Mexico, El Clan had the plessure to share the stage with some awesome gothic bands like Human Drama and The Last Dance from USA, representing the beginig of the Dark gothic scene in Mexico, most of the music press and mexican media started to talk about "El Clan", interviews here and there, articles on the paper, magazines, radio, etc. and unfortunately the main idea was lost. Some people enjoyed "El Clan's"performances and music because they wanted to be a part of it and they identified their personalities with the concept, but others just wanted to have some fun and be part of what was the new trend. "El Clan" started working on their second album on some new great songs like "El Odio" , "Acido", "El Testamento", 'Chacal" and other never released composicions , during this new transcicion was when I relaized that things had changed and I decided to leave the band and leave everything behind because my main purpose and idea of the band was lost and changed. El Clan became just another rock band. I left for the USA, ending everything that I had created before to eventually create my vison. After all these years I am coming back to the music scene as the voice and front man of the Mexican Gothic band ALAYDHA along with another awesome singer, Etzael on backing vocals , ALAYDHA's musicians were already very talented, profesional and recognized on the Dark mexican goth scene, Banshee on the drums who is the glue that keeps the band going and he is the brain behind this whole thing, Sadu on bass, Yo$oy on Guitar /effects and Witch on the amazing Keyboards. Una propuesta vanguardista, interesante y que resulta fascinante de analizar en los rincones más oscuros de nuestra alma... Los primero acordes de sus notas aguardaban EL SENTIR que provocaba su musica tan enigmática de muchos que le rindieron culto a su alrededor... Escenarios petrificados en diversos cuadros que con gran expresionismo levantan el estruendoso acto final de la vida... El icono más preciado del DARK mexicano que nos devuelve en los brazos a Dios al explorar los caminos pétreos hasta la llegada de un éxtasis inmaculado... Los Ángeles rodeaban la voz de Gustavo al comienzo de cada oracion que era expulsada desde su alma hasta su garganta... Crucificadas nuestras almas bajo un azul de media noche nos entregábamos a las brujas de nuestros recuerdos y nuestra memoria quedaba petrificada al compás de los ecos mortuorios que poblaban el viento que nos acariciaba bajo el dominio de su musica... Demonios eternos que la noche arropaba tejiendo sus delgados hilos de luz provocando a los duendes que danzaban lujuriosos ante el abismo letal que nos hacia sucumbir... Dioses disfrazados de artistas que bajo sus manos portaban la enfermiza locura de la cual no deseaban salir... Enfermos otorgaban a sus creaciones hipnóticos réquiems poblando nuestras mentes con su agobiante enfermedad... Artistas errantes que dejaron como legado dos albunes que en algun rincon oscuro son tocados para aliviar el dolor que nos mata... Como fantasmas despiertan entre lo mundano para escribir proximas El Clan se forma a principios de 1991 y el 15 de julio de ese mismo año participa en "La Batalla de las Bandas II", concurso organizado por Rockotitlán, en donde obtuvo el segundo lugar de entre mas de 200 grupos inscritos de todo el pais. Este premio le dio la posibilidad de ser conocido y difundido a traves del casette acoplado "La Batalla de las Bandas II", bajo el sello discognifico Rockotitlan y distribuido a nivel nacional por Warner Music. Los dos temas grabados para este acoplado, Las Brujas y el Reino de los Duendes, fueron trasmitidos en programas especializados de rock en español del Distrito Federal y el resto de la República Mexicana. El 6 de agosto del mismo año, El Clan fue semifinalista en el Festival de Musica Pop "Band Explosion 91", evento organizado por Nescafe y Yamaha. Para apoyar su promoción El Clan realizó el video de "Las Brujas", obteniendo mención honorifica en el certamen "Video Rock 92", organizado por el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. En 1993 fueron nominados en la categoria de Mejor Grupo Nuevo dentro de la VI Encuesta Nacional de Rock en Español, avalada por el voto popular y periodistas especializados. A fines de 1993 El Clan grabó su primer C.D. bajo el sello discografico Dodo y con distribución de Sony Music, ademas contó con la producción de Marc Rodamilans. En Abril de 1994, se presentó el C.D. en el Teatro del Pueblo con una buena respuesta del publico y una critica favorable por parte de la prensa. El album debut titulado "Sin Sentir" reflejó claramente esta primera etapa del grupo, su concepto obscuro lleno de personajes misticos extraidos de la literatura fantastica. Durante ese año El Clan participó en festivales gratuitos a beneficio de la gente de Chiapas y los Tarahumaras. En Octubre y Noviembre fue invitado al Primer Festival Gótico de la Ciudad de Mexico y a una Noche Gótica, respectivamente, en donde alternó con diversos grupos del movimiento gótico de Los Angeles, California. En 1994 El Clan mantuvo constante actividaden los distintos foros del D.F. con algunas incursiones en provincia (Cuernavaca, Puelbla, Tlaxcala, Guanajuato, Irapuato, etc). Dentro de la VIII Encuesta de Rock en Español (Abril 1995), El Clan fue nominado en tres categorias: Mejor Debut Discognifico de Rock Pop, Mejor Disco Independiente y Mejor Debut Discográfico. El sabado 16 de diciembre del mismo año El Clan participo en el festival "Rock por el sida", celebrado en la Plaza de toros Mexico. Finalme Gustavo decidio apartarse y apagar momentaneamente la flama que alumbraba la obscuridad de este grandioso proyecto para embarcarse en la busqueda de su evolucion que ahora despues de 14 años vuelve a re-nacer!
