Nintendo DS Lite Games My Dad's closest band members were his Son, Dale Atkinson who played bass in "The Goldmine Band". Dale is my older brother whom I Love dearly. Also his lead guitar player and keyboard player, Tom Firme, who is my beloved Husband now. In fact, thats how Tom and I became a couple, through being in my Dads band (I THANK THE LORD FOR THAT!!!). A few of his other close band members were Mr. George Hopp who played lead guitar with my Dad for many many years in their younger life. Also his late drummer, Jack Preast. His old time band members, Mr. Bob Green Sr., Dave Wraight, John Stout, Jimmy Moore, Freddy Markini, Mac and many many more.
Influences: My Dad had to many influences to really name them all although some of his favorite artist were Elvis, Jim Reeves, Eddie Arnold, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Ernest Tubb, George Straight, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and many many more. My Dad was really into Country Music, more of the older Country sound. He also Loved the Big Band sound in music. All in all, he Loved all types of music, anything from the old 1940's sound up to the 1990's. As time went on in his life, he learned all varieties of music to play in his bands. He would learn just about any song people would request or threw at him. My Dad was a crowd pleaser, a people pleaser and really Loved and enjoyed playing for his many many fans. Like I've said and will say time and time again, music was my Dads life. He lived and breathed for his Love of Music (THIS IS SO TRUE!).
Through my Dad's life and his Love for music, he also gathered numerous influences on
his music. He not only was a GREAT musician but also wrote his own songs as well. His dreams were to go on to Nashville to publish his songs which we all know he could have went places with them. He really was that good!!! Time went on and he never followed through on his dreams. Instead he put all his own recordings on a cassette and sealed it up so nobody would ever steel his music which he had a fear of. He then sealed up his music in an envelope and addressed it to himself. There it lay in his closet till the day he died. He often told us kids that we could do whatever we wanted to with his music after he was gone. A week after my Dad had passed, I found that envelope which contained that cassette. I then played that cassette of his recordings and cried for days after that. I would be thinking about the dream he once had on wanting to go off to Nashville to make it into the Big Time, which he most likely would have accomplished his dream.
Now I must not dwell on the past but to let it be known to others what a great human being and musician my dad really was. This is why this page comes about for all to see and hear for themselves what a great musician, song writer & singer my Dad really was in his life. I dedicate this page to my Dad who I miss more then anything in my life and who I Love and will admire for the rest of my life. I hope you all will Love and enjoy this page as much as I did making it for him. ROCK ON DAD, WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
Sounds Like: My Dad,Mr.Lou Atkinson sounded so much like Elvis Presley when he sang. He even wore his hair like Elvis, pitch black with heavy sideburns. Elvis was surely his 1 idol of all time.
