Hell’s Kitchen

About Me

Like a cacophonous phoenix risen out of the ashes of all that would be good in metal from the East Bay came the musical legends Hell's Kitchen. Crushing leads, vicious tempos, hair. Lots of hair.
Many tried to imitate, many failed in their attempt. Truth be told, not even the band understood how legendary they were. Purveyors....nyet, Pioneers of Punk, Masters of Metal, Thtalwarts of Thrash.
"It was like I was at a show, they started their trademarked Circle-Bangâ„¢, I got dizzy and next thing you know I'm a total hesher." -fan at show
Hell's Chicken released 2 LP's: If You Can't Take The Heat and Fistful Of Chicken, toured in Europe twice in 1990 and stopped when the riff tank sprung a leak. Or maybe just got sprung.
Arguably the inspiration for all of the various offshoots of metal: hair-metal, dark-metal, death-metal, thrash-metal, carbon-metal, industrial-metal, opera-metal, progressive 3/4-metal, uber-metal, strict-metal, and urban street-metal.
"If one were to quantify their music's importance to metal, one must say they exist. - English guy (drunk) at our record-release party

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.weirdsystem.de/
Band Members: Guitar - Luke Skeels mind-melting, scrotum-scraping guitar tastiness.
Vocals - Jimi Haze monitor-leaning screams of vengeance and giblets.
Bass - Troy Takaki bowel-loosening 360º spin-o-rama little bass man.
Drums - Mike Branum motor-mouthed, face-making dork drummer.
Others* -

Original "Fast Food" Demo line-up: Luke Skeels, Dave Chavez, Tom Flynn, Chris Kontos, Troy Takaki - The first line-up. The music was delivered with such force and brutal intensity that vinyl alone (they only released a cassette) couldn't handle the sonic barrage. The musical juggernaut exploded in a ball of molten-metal flame. Kinda. Actually, Chris was in Attitude Adjustment, Dave was in Verbal Abuse and Tom was just basically over it.

*denotes other guys that were at various times in the band:
Sean - 2nd singer, sang lead vocals on "If You Can't Take The Heat..."
Marty - 2nd guitarist, played in the band almost a year until it was over.
Chuck - 2nd guitarist, played on "Fistful Of Chicken" and on Spring '89 tour.
Andy - bass, played in the band about six months until it was over.
Greg - 2nd guitarist, played on Fall '89 tour.
Pat - bass, played on Fall '89 tour.
Ethan - we're not completely sure.
