About Me
In the year 2000 Calibern saw its first light ever, Erwin wanted to do a project involving Epic Power Metal, influenced by Rhapsody, Luca Turilli and Therion.
He asked Federico to join him and together they found the name Calibern, after a few months they found musicians to start project Calibern.
They managed to make a song called The Power of Calibern, but after a year Calibern fell apart.
2 Years later Federico convinced Erwin to pick up Calibern again, but this time as a real band.
While they where talking about starting again a drummer called Reinier heard them and joined them in their quest.
Erwin, Federico and Reinier rehearsed together feeling a chemistry between them and they came up with the song Men Are Running.
A half year later they found a Bass player called Michiel, together they made a few more songs called Railroad Love, Succubus and Dreaming.
A few months later Federico and Michiel participated in a jam session where they met Maarten and Aroen, Maarten played the guitar and Aroen the drums.
Maarten was asked to join Calibern to become their second guitar player and he agreed. After a half year Reinier decided to leave Calibern due to musical
differences but he was soon replaced by Aroen. After the changes the band made, Calibern decided to make a new beginning dropping all their old songs. Together they made a new song called Tell me
Little Lies, after a few arguments Michiel left the band.
Calibern searched for a new bass player for a half year, but one night Federico was the DJ of a Alternative disco where he started to talk to Boudewijn
and he could play the bass so he was asked to join them and he agreed. Calibern finally started to make more songs, Nearest Station, Fly Away, No Return,
Hate You Now, The Mirror. Finally Calibern was making progress, and people noticed.
Calibern made their live debut on 13 September 2003, they got a lot of positive comments. After some a good talk Calibern decided they couldn't work with Erwin anymore and he agreed so he left the band being a good friend.
Not long after the leave of Erwin they found Jaap, a experienced guitar player that joined them. All went well with Calibern, they performed in several venues in their new formation and had a lot of fun. Together they recorded a CD with 5 songs called The Darkest Night.
In October Aroen announced he was going to leave the band due to time shortage, he stayed a while till they would find a new drummer. Calibern began to
get irritated because they could not find a new drummer. A month later the band foolish decided to stop working together with Jaap and asked him to leave, he did that still being a friend.
A new drummer called Wilmar joined Calibern after being drummer less for a half year. The young drummer caught up rather fast with the rest of the band.
But a few months later Maarten decided that Calibern would not accomplish anything so he left the band in a hostile way, they had a performance 5 days
later but he did not want to play on that performance. Calibern called Jaap if he was willing to help them with the gig, after rehearsing one time they
gave a great performance. Feeling a new click between them and Jaap was what they needed, they decided to go on in this formation.
After a long and hard time Calibern found a second guitar player in Mario, he joined Calibern after a few visits in the rehearsal studio.
In November 2007 Wilmar and Jaap left Calibern after musical indifferences and where replaced by old time drummer Reinier Jansen and new lead guitar player Jori Konings.
After all the changes in the band Calibern has become a Heavy Metal band with a touch of Thrash/Power/Symphonic Metal.
Influenced by the likes of Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Wolf, Symphony X, Megadeth, Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Dream Theater and more bands.
They performed a dozen times with bands like: Double Diamond, Black Knight, Speedchaser, Annatar, Tripple 7, Slander and more.
