Adelaide bands kick ass!!
Backstory:
The story behind Our Apollo begins in 2003, when several high school music students with shitty gear decided that starting a rock band was a foolproof way of passing time and getting attention. Naming themselves Shatterproof, and jamming on the likes of Rage Against the Machine(bombtrack), Metallica(enter sandman/master of puppets), Pantera(cemetery gates), and Led Zeppelin(moby dick), it soon became clear that they could rock out, but none of them could sing well enough to front a band. Call it fate, destiny, or pure luck, but with so little as a message as on a music bulletin board on the internet, they soon found Sarah Smith, whose voice took their sound to a whole new level.
Over the next couple of years, Shatterproof was a gigging cover band playing the hits of the likes of Foo Fighters, Silverchair, Bon Jovi, and Velvet Revolver – even getting a few paid gigs. While they had a good sound and loved playing together, they didn’t really take that seriously. Just being a cover band and playing someone else’s music ultimately wasn’t enough motivation to keep going. Shatterproof called it a day in early 2007. Around six months passed of not even so much as a practice, and after a while, all of Shatterproof missed the band days. A reunion was in store – but this time round, it would be a creative outlet for all members, and most importantly – they would play original music. It would create a dynasty. The stage is set for the inception of Our Apollo
The rise of Our Apollo:
Since late 2007/early 2008 Our Apollo has been hard at work writing music to record a 6 track demo which is now up for your listening pleasure. Watch out for us around Adelaide as we blast onto the scene! Striving, like all other bands, for some much needed exposure!
