About Me

The Legendary Ancient Astral Afro had a head of hair that was longer than the distance that light travels in a year. It was curled into the density of a perfect black sphere. His Mighty Afro Pick had teeth made of lightning rods from GOD. Everytime he combed his hair planets would explode, stars went nova and black holes would implode. But when he shaped and formed his hair the galactic storm would subside. He would create new stars and planets with pride. Yes, he had conquered the universe but it was not enough. He had to find a home and create little Afro Puffs.Scruffmouth the Scribe is a PrOphETIC SCRIbBlEr of the highest order. His devours WordSoundPower as Food For Thought. His poetry has been published in We Have A Voice: An Anthology of African & Caribbean Student Writing; Blood Ink: A University of Alberta Literary Journal; as well as self-published chapbooks The Seventh Sense (2008) & Choose Your Revolution (2008 w/Van Poetry Slam). He has performed and featured as a spoken word artist and slam poet at the Vancouver Poetry Slam since 2004. He has performed his work in Victoria, Seattle, New York, Nairobi, Halifax, Boise, & at yo mama's house (at least she doesn't cheat at Scrabble). When he is not playing or coaching the beautiful game or working in the film industry, Scruffmouth is revolutionizing the quest to achieve creative freedom. He is the open mind behind the BLACK DOT Roots & Culture Collective, which came into being out of a necessity to create, facilitate, and celebrate the Black Experience at home and abroad. Scruff is tuff & serious, but he is also cute & cuddly like a black panther cub with an afro.
