Welcome to the Internet home of tin dog, a six piece acoustic outfit (though we perform in other combinations too) with a taste for old blues and gospel. We put country and jazz blues tunes from the nineteen twenties thru forties into the blender with piano, organ, accordion, harmonica, ukulele, double bass and harmonies, producing what we think is a unique, rich sound. Our repertoire includes original numbers as well as standards, including quirky and rarely heard gems drawn from a wide range of sources, though within a stone’s throw of the blues.
Come to a tin dog concert and you’ll hear songs by Blind Willie McTell, Bessie Smith, Ry Cooder, Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Mahalia Jackson and a host of other folk who wrote songs with humour and feeling that inspire performers and audiences alike. You’ll hear driving blues mixed with gospel standards like Let Your Light Shine and You Don't Knock. You’ll get crafted and subtle piano-based tunes with a real spoonful of jazz influence, followed by primitive backyard music, not to mention a swag of our own inventions - all played like we mean it. We do!
tin dog are equally at home with sensitive acoustic ballads and raunchy Chicago blues. We're not your average blues band and our performances are a unique experience that will leave you swingin' and hollerin'. Promise!
