About Me

emily & amaliah met four years ago in their 10th/11th grade [respectively] guitar class, conveniently enough. unaware of each other's talent at first, they shared a love of speaking french & swooning over john mayer.
now, as the brunettes, emily keeps busy arranging those catchy melodies that you sing in the shower, while amaliah is the girl behind the poignant words you wish you had written yourself. between the two of them, a tune could be picked out on guitar, piano, fiddle, mandolin or ukulele.
the brunettes come up with harmonies in their sleep, communicate telepathically, & discuss politics while simultaneously perfecting the grammar in their upcoming songs and making macaroni & cheese :]
we have our own SIXTYONE
click the cassette to hear cover songs we don't upload to myspace!
we are working hard on our STUDIO PRODUCED second cd "foolish hearts"! should be ready within a few weeks, so get ready!
last summer's "songs in Am & Em" is also still available too. drop us a message.

My Interests

and

MILY DOBRENCHUK

Influences: influences:

amaliah: "john mayer, jason mraz, madeleine peyroux, tristan prettyman, jack johnson, ella fitzgerald, carla bruni, ingrid michaelson
the barenaked ladies, because they make me laugh
coldplay, because they make me cry"

emily: "azure ray, leslie feist, sia furler, sufjan stevens, snow patrol, damien rice, eisley, denison witmer, a fine frenzy, postal service, the wreckers, andrew bird, she & him"

mutually: "john legend, jamie cullum, sara bareilles, norah jones, sondre lerche, regina spektor, kt tunstall, mason jennings, michael buble, the shins."

non-musical: "the gifted stacy, peanut butter & banana sandwiches, la france."
Sounds Like:

who do we sound like?
(up for serious debate, but these are some names which have been mentioned to us)

a louder, catchier azure ray.
the wreckers minus the "country" sound.
leslie feist x2, plus eisley-like harmonies to boot.
pseudo-poignant lyrics that rival those of a fine frenzy and ingrid michaelson.
simple guitar/keyboard instrumentals like acoustic kate nash or maybe even sara bareilles.
we just sound like us.
