Formed in 1987 from the ashes of three burned minds, a phoenix rising out of apathy and boredom. They met after the legendary one and only Animal or Vegetable gig. Two aspiring poets asked the formidable Josh Levi to start a band. He being the only *real* musician they knew and the only person in Saint Louis who owned an amp at that time, made it the no-brain-er choice to complete their current line-up. The name Chrome Nymph comes from one of Levi's now-legendary mix-cassettes that he would periodically send Allen Ginsberg in order to keep Allen current on the underground sounds. Check out his amazing poem "Chrome Nymph" which is dedicated to Mr. Levi!
Christine LaBarbera landed in the Lou after a circus/trapeze performance in which she took a nasty spill and was hospitalized and thus left behind by her troupe. Joseph Raglani, then a nurse, was immediately taken in by her charms and became a close friend. He was let go from his nursing duties when it was discovered that he had dosed his favorite patient with mushrooms and forced her to watch Decline Of Western Civilization and then sneaked her out and wheeled her to Bernard's Pub in order to watch his favorite band Animal Or Vegetable perform. The three people found an immediate bond in each other and in hard drugs. The rest is history....
