About Me

Background Artist:
Melody Hay This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!
Southern Karma was born from a chance meeting between Melody Vestal and Tony Cherry who were traveling the circles of singer/songwriters in the Dallas, Texas area. The two almost immediately found common ground in music and in life and soon formed an acoustic duo and started performing for friends, family and at local open mics to get their proverbial four feet wet.Melody, a Houston native and graduate of the prestigious University of North Texas music program, has been singing since she was a child and started writing songs in the past few years with impressive results. In a courageous move, she entered the Range Songwriter Roundup music competition with seasoned veterans of the music scene and got positive feedback from the judges and the artists involved.Tony, who is from far east Texas, discovered the beauty of music later in life, but it was not long before he got his first guitar and started strumming along and writing songs with reflecting metaphors from life experiences. Now, beginning their third year of performing together, with a new professionally recorded EP and having performed gigs at amazing venues, Southern Karma hopes to continue to grow and connect with audiences through rhythmic and lyrical snapshots of life in Texas and the south.
