One of Finland’s finest AOR bands, Guitar Slingers are back on the road again.
Fronted by singer Jore Marjaranta and guitarist Ben Granfelt, Guitar Slingers released their self titled debut album in 1995. It featured several radio hits including "Baby It’s Alright" and "This is Forever". Their second album "Guitar Slingers Song & Dance" was released in 1996 and the third "That Little Something" two years later in 1998. All of their albums have peaked in the Finnish album charts top 20 and stayed there for several weeks.
For years, both Jore and Ben enjoyed fame and fortune with the notorious Leningrad Cowboys but left the band in 1996 to concentrate solely on Guitar Slingers. Throughout 1994-99 Guitar Slingers was the top AOR band in Finland and played hundreds of shows. They disbanded in 1999 when Ben decided to continue his solo career. Jore soon followed Ben's ways and became one of Finland’s top male solo artists. Ben toured Europe extensively with his own trio and later joined Wishbone Ash.
Guitar Slingers' line-up is completed by Ako Kiiski, Petri Auer and Harri Seppälä - all experienced and respected professionals in the Finnish music scene.
"It’s great to play together with the guys again without any pressure, we’re doing this because it’s great fun!" – Jore Marjaranta
"I don’t think I’ve ever made a single gig in Finland where someone wouldn’t have mentioned Guitar Slingers and the good times back in the '90s. We’re really enjoying playing together and are better friends than ever before. I say “Cheers†and raise my pint!" – Ben Granfelt
