Philip de Goey (1956,The Netherlands) is a multifarious instrumentalist, composer and arranger who started his musical career with the trumpet at the age of nine. Two years later he began playing the clarinet and again after two years the oboe. On this instrument he graduated in 1981 as a classical, orchestral and improvising(jazz-) musician at the conservatory of Tilburg in the Netherlands . After this he took lessons with the famous oboe player Heinz Holliger in Bern, Switzerland and worked with The Metropole Orchestra conducted by Rogier van Otterloo in Hilversum, Holland. In India Philip visited the world-famous chenai-player Ustad Bismillah Khan. After this he played with several famous musicians in India, Pakistan, Irak, Tunesia, Morocco, Spain and Suriname. Besides the oboe Philip learned to play the piano, flute, tenor-alto-and soprano-saxophone, the violin and harmonica, shawm and medieval flute. Also he is a composer/arranger. Untill today Philip had a lot of activities with a great variety of musical groups , ensembles and bands such as: the symphonic popbands “Mirror “and “Letheâ€,with his own ‘Modern Groove Quartet’( Jazz), the ska-funk band "Sans Rancune", the ‘El Habib Quartet’, and the ‘Pegasus Jazz-Project’, “Phil& KO", the singer Fatima-Zohra Buurman and “Wilde Rozenâ€, the reggae-band “Poormanfriend†with Papeman, K-Wida, Jah Prince, Clinark(UK), Osagyefo(Ghana). The salsa-bands “El Ritmo Sequea “ and “Axiomaâ€, “Vistarâ€with Raj Mohan and Denise Jannah, “James Owie bandâ€( Nigeria) , Fojeba(Kameroen), The Hindustanian/Surinam band"Sabroso", the meditative fusion-band “Ajapaâ€, the “Bustan-trioâ€( Jazz), and the medieval folk-band “Slag ende Stootâ€. Etc, etc.He is also working as a recording- studio musician for several artists, and did a lot of radio/television-, record – and cd-recordings.
