About Me
Matt Leighton alias DJ tremor has been in the drum & bass game half of his life. The past 15 years saw him climb from his early days starting & running a pirate radio station in a small town in Southern England, to worldwide bookings in Europe & the United States on DJ skills alone. He began DJing through exposure to the British rave scene of the early 90s. Obsessed with being a DJ, he started learning how to mix the hardcore records he had randomly collected at the tender age of 16 & was addicted. His earlier days saw him open for many of his scene heroes at the legendary Pure Science nights @ Atomics in Maidstone UK & other events around Kent & Essex through exposure from FM radio & a constant stream of demo tapes, but he eventually moved to London & pursued DJing more seriously. Living in the city & at times hosting up to 3 regular pirate or internet radio broadcasts at a time from different locations across the city, throughout 2002-2003 he was a weekly regular on Life FM, also playing events in London alongside headliners from the station's roster & held down slots or played regular guest spots on other respected stations such as rinse, dnbworldwide & subliminal. Due to the benefit of worldwide transmission through the net & the switch from pirate FM to online broadcasting, he was soon playing abroad. A mini tour in Eastern Europe to support his friend's local darkside drum & bass label, Mindrush recordings, was set up & took him to play in Krakow & Katowice & a month later he was to move to the West coast of the United States on a long term basis. Based in Seattle for 4 years, he was one of the Pacific Northwest's busiest working drum & bass DJs, playing anything from 1 show a month to 3 a week in his hometown alone, gigs in other local cities such as Spokane & Tacoma & also branching out to hit the tables in other US states such as Florida & Oregon. He also made his mark on the illegal party scene, playing regular underground warehouse and outdoor raves around Washington state & continued to feed his habit for radio broadcasting, running a 3 year strong weekly online show called "off the scale" on dnbtv showcasing guest appearances from US headliners & other Seattle locals & also playing regular FM shows, legally for a change, on local electronic music station C89.5FM on Saturday nights. He has promoted club nights on both sides of the pond & his time in the US alone has seen him booked to directly open for a slew of big names such as Noisia, Teebee, Calibre & DRS, Moving Fusion, Klute, Mayhem, Silver, D-Star, Remarc, Psidream, Mechwarrior, T.Z.A, Pacific, Quadrant, Demo, Cease & more. Through local contact with producers such as Demo & D-Struct, Tremor was soon to become more serious about music production & has been busy learning the ins & outs of cubase for the past 2 years. His current projects include a collaboration with D-Struct of Identity & RDS (Barcode/Salvage) called "Biometrics" & another solo project called "Orchids" is to turn into a collab project with promising Seattle producer Tizzer (Onset) as well as another recent project "Shut Em Down" currently in the early stages coproduced with Chris Lennox (Jungle Empire). The future will bring more solo production & collaborative projects, while he continues to pursue his love for both drum & bass & hiphop production & he's set to devastate UK dancefloors once again with his fast paced & tight DJ sets, primarily pushing futuristic funky techstep & neuro beats to the heads on the floor. Now based back in England, DJ Tremor is available for bookings across the UK & Europe again, but America hasnt heard the last of this guy yet!
