One day, in the midst of your daily routine ofrecycling from sleeping, to wake, to eating, to work, and repeating, you willjust pause for an instant, and be hit by a massive epiphany that will stop you in your fast tracks, and make everything coherant. You can try to do everything you do, tothe best of your ability, to enhance your life for the time being, extend yourhealth, and maybe even have a sense of peace, family, love, and being alivewhile doing it, but once you're in the ground, those 80 some odd years meannothing if all you've achieved is the same exact thing that over 10 billion otherpeople have obtained since the dawn of man. It's at that exact point, thathaving that warm peaceful feeling of knowing you've lived a decent, satisfyinglife, isn’t enough. And it irks you, extremely... to the point where you want tomake sure as shit you become more than what you are. Because you are aconscious being. Beautiful, unique, and capable of controlling your own fate. You are not a worker ant, mindless lemming, or gerbil on a wheel.
The decisions you make, directly reflect what youachieve in life, and the only thing stopping you from greatness is your ownactions. Where would the world be if every great man thought one man alonecouldn’t change the world? Will your wife and children remember you as agreat husband and father, and history ask "who?", or will the world celebrateyou as a great human being? Will textbooks have your name printed on themfor millennia to come? Will young children learn to respect your life andachievements as part of their knowledge and growth to an adult, and will youcontinually influence the future generations with your past existence? Will yourchildren instead say "my father is a great man" and will your family from nowon say it too?
Abruptly the thought ofheaven and hell is almost trivial. Sure, you're trying your best to be righteoustoo, after all, who isn’t good, when they are great? But whether an afterlifedoes or doesn’t exist, doesn’t seem to bare much importance, if you can’timprint the continual life on Earth from it. If it does exist, once you're there, youaren’t discovering America, or building the railroad across a continent. In thatsense, the only true way to live forever, or have an afterlife, is to imprint thepresent with your presence. Strive to do more. This is the exact reason everydecision and action we as humans make is infinitely more beautiful than amachine pressing papers, or a train running on time, every day. You will neverbe 16 again. 18, 21, 32, 50. How many chances will you get to pursue who youbelieve to be your future love? An opportunity to change your life? A chance tograsp something more? A moment where you can change the world? Do youwant to be like the 5:45 train every morning? There is no second chance. Noreset button. And every second, every minute, your life is getting faster, andyou are moving slower.
In the end, you realize it’s time to takea stand, right now, and promise yourself to make a difference, because youdisserve to. You do not want to be 80 years old with regrets. Do you really want to end your life with the thought of "I wish I did more, I wish I wasmore"? Call me crazy, I want to change the world. I wantmore.
