Aloha Everyone!

I want to extend my deepest respect and gratitude to you for aiding and inspiring my campaign for Puna.  This campaign would not have been nearly as successful if it were not for your support.  It was a long and strenuous four months, but the lessons I have learned and people I have met are more than worth the effort.

Although we did not make it past the primary, I feel as though we have won.  The incumbent, Faye Hanohano, spent roughly $9,000 on the first leg of this election.  This is almost 5 times the amount of money we have spent.  If you boil it down to the numbers, she paid $4.50 per vote, while we spent only $1.50 per vote.  That is a tremendous accomplishment for a 23-year-old facing off against union sponsorship and name recognition.

Hopefully, this campaign will serve as a message to our representatives: that they must act quickly, efficiently, and sincerely to bring Puna its due, or they risk being replaced. It is my sincere desire that Puna has the best representation possible in the legislature and we must all advocate for a strong voice.

For the time being, I will continue to work for Puna outside of the State government.

Again, Mahalo to each of you for your support and trust. Here is a list of people and businesses who have contributed to this campaign that I would like to recognize for their generosity and kindness:

Aloha!
My name is Tony Marzi and I am a democrat running for the the state of Hawaii House member for district 4.
At 23 years old, I am not your typical candidate. I don't appeal to interest groups, I don't have corporate contributions, and I don't play golf with the "good ol' boys" that have been running our government for decades.
My campaign manager is a 23-year-old electrician, and my strategist is a 19-year-old senior at the University of Hawaii. In fact, dozens of our campaign volunteers are under the age of 30.
Puna’s youth are showing the campaign amazing support. Although many of our campaign volunteers are young adults with limited funds and resources, we are taking innovative steps to get recognition. The volunteers and I are creating our own website, constructing signs, writing pamphlets, and walking door-to-door to spread our message to the community.
Although I am a representative of the youth, I am committed to our community as a whole. I have met with many of our district’s parents, leaders, and kupuna, and have learned much from their concerns and advice. The wisdom of our elders and passion of our youth will enable us to create a better lower Puna for this and future generations.
This is a truly grassroots effort by Puna's future generation to revitalize our community. As a lifelong resident of Pahoa, I have long seen our district neglected by the state. For years, our representatives have made empty promises of improvement while the rest of us waited for change.
I am not waiting anymore. It is time for lower Puna to get the educational, economic, and infrastructural improvements it needs and deserves. We must progress our efforts of sustainability and self-sufficiency while also preserving our cherished natural resources and land.
It's time for a Puna Revolution! Please join us to reclaim what is ours.
