Well, I left this good job in the city. I was working for the man every night and day. But I never lost one minute of sleeping worrying about the way things might have been. Let's see...I cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis, then I pumped a lot of tane down in New Orleans. But I never saw the good side of the city, until I hitched a ride on a riverboat queen. That changed my life. It really did.
If you come down to the river, you know, I bet you're going to find some people who live. You don’t have to worry if you got no money, because people on the river are really happy to give. Or they were. A lot of them now have had their homes wiped out or something. Or somebody they knew died, maybe. So, maybe not on the whole money thing.
