About Me

I'm 26 years old. I am a wife, soon to be a mother, and an assistant preschool director. I also occasionally babysit/fill in for vacationing nannies. I have a wonderful husband who works from home as a computer programmer. Our first baby ia due in January. I'm originally from Long Beach, CA. I attended UCSB for two years, then transferred to UC Berkeley where I met Matt (he's actually a University of Michigan Grad) whom I later married. After I graduated we stayed up in the bay area for another 2 years. Now we live in Van Nuys, CA. While I wouldn't recommend the San Fernando Valley as a great place to live, at least we can afford to buy a house here, so it has it's upside. I do wish I lived closer to my family, and I wouldn't complain about a shorter commute to work, but those issues aside, I have a really great life.

My Interests

Making stuff (painting, drawing, collage, sewing, etc.), reading, playing games (board and computer), hanging out with my family or my friends, gardening, yoga, shopping at farmer's markets, teaching myself to play guitar (it's a slow process), and playing with my cats, Sophia and Ozzy.

Music:

My favorite bands/artists are: The Beatles, Dar Williams, Barenaked Ladies, Simon and Garfunkle and Paul Simon by himself, Counting Crows, John Denver, Johnny Cash, Matchbox 20, Billy Joel, and Bob Dylan. On the radio I usually listen to the Country station (if I'm not listening to NPR), mostly because the radio stations in LA suck.

Movies:

I don't see a lot of movies. I generally have trouble staying awake to watch them. This was a problem even before I was pregnant. However there are a handful of movies I really like. Here they are: Ocean's 11, Garden State, Pretty Woman, Matilda, almost any Shirley Temple movie, Clueless, When Harry Met Sally, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Father of the Bride, Fools Rush In, The Cutting Edge. I've enjoyed plenty of other movies as well, but these are the ones I like to watch again and again.

Television:

I watch far more TV than I care to admit thanks to our good friend Tivo. This is what is in our season pass list right now: Dharma and Greg, Mad about You, Law and Order (original and SVU), Cold Case, Psych, Monk, Sell this house, Flip this House, Queer as Folk, Penn and Teller bull$**t, Big Love, Daily Show, Colbert Report, 30 Days, the 4400, Good Eats, House, My Name is Earl, Scrubs, Numbers, CSI, and How I Met Your Mother. I don't watch all these shows all year long though. Some are summer running and some are fall and spring. However, I'm sure we'll be cutting back after the baby comes.
