Soundcollage: Köln ohne Rhein ?
Welche Bedeutung hat der Rhein für die Stadt und ihre Bewohner ? Die Soundcollage "Köln ohne Rhein?" greift diese Frage in akustischer Form auf. Zahlreiche Geräusche vom Rheinufer und aus der Kölner Innenstadt wurden über einen Zeitraum von mehreren Jahren gesammelt und mit Synthesizerklängen und Passanten-Statements zu einer Klangcollage gemischt. Die Soundcollage möchte die Zuhörer anregen, eine eigene Antwort auf die Frage nach der Bedeutung des Rheins zu finden.

Sound Collage: Cologne without the River Rhine ?
How important is the River Rhine for the City of Cologne and its inhabitants nowadays? The Sound Collage does not give any answer to that question but wants to invite the listeners to find their own individual answer. You will hear much sounds from the city center and the river bank, all mixed together with music and recorded statements of interviewed passer-bys. So if you have ever been to Cologne, maybe you will recognize some of the sounds.
The sounds were recorded in stereo with a portable DAT recorder and I was using condenser microphones. The mixing was done digitally on PC with audio editing software.
