At one time Swedish AOR-queen Erika Norberg was married to Yngwie Malmsteen, a fact alone guaranteeing her international attention.
However - Erika's excellent vocals and strong sense of melody resulting in 5 excellent AOR albums, together with her spectacular live shows, not to mention looks, made her one of Swedens biggest rocknroll queens of the 90s with enormous success in many other countries such as Japan and Germany as well.
Throughout her career Erika has been surrounded by prominent profiles in the Swedish AOR /heavy metal/hard rock-scene, such as Benny Jansson (Talisman), Jonas Sandquist (GLORY), Peter Roth (Yngwie Malmsteen), Peter Norstedt (GARBO), Micke Wennborn, Göran Elmquist, Peo Thyren (Noice, Shaboom, Easy Action) Per Lindvall (ABBA and many others) to name but a few.
Hailing from Skellefteå in Northern Sweden, Erika recorded her first album for the Lionheart label, distributed by Virgin in Scandinavia. The album "Cold winter night" featured songs co-written by the singer with Swedish songwriters such as Warnerbring and Almquist.
"Together we're Lost" gave her a huge pop hit in Sweden and both "Hurting So Bad" and "Heavenly" also charted high. The hit single from the record, "Lost In Paradise" was a duet with Eurovision Song Contest entrant Jan Johansen, and the following year Erika changed direction from AOR toward a modern rock chick image for her "Planet X" album, catering for her burgeoning following in Japan. The album "Ripe" was even harder with almost no trace of AOR.
Erika bowed out in 1999, announcing her retirement in front of a live audience of 10,000 people. Together with her husband Daniel - a property developer she engaged 1999, and their son, the family relocated to a amazing mansion in the country side outside Stockholm and Erika started a new career as a journalist and novelist. She gave birth to their first daughter in 2001, and second in 2006.
She continued writing hit songs for other artists as she always have done. In 1995 Jan Johansson won the Swedish pre-selection for the Eurovision song contest with the song "Se på mig" (look at me). The original lyrics for the song, then titled "Another night", was written by Erika. In 1998 she wrote "Ingen annan väg" (No other way), with among others Peo Thyren whos band "B.I.G" performed the song Swedish pre-selection of ESC. They came second place, very close to winning.
In 2008 a rumour by initiated sources says that she will be back really soon. We can only save a prayer!
