A friend recommended I watch Boondock Saints. I did. It was AWESOME. Since I'm part Irish and keep up with family traditions this movie makes a lot of sense to me to I went out and bought a copy of it. It's considered to be a cult film now. The reason for this? It was set to be released in mid-1999 but due to the Columbine High School massacre in April 1999 it was put back on the shelf in America and was released in Europe instead. A limited release in January 2000 didn't go well ("too soon!"). It was re-released in America on May 22nd, 2006 and has been flourishing in DVD sales simply by word of mouth and with absolutely no advertising. Word of mouth spread and it's just recently been released on a new DVD that includes a very informative deleted scene. With the recent increase in fan support a sequel (Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day) has been filmed and is in post-production currently. Writer/Director (of both films) Troy Duffy said that this will be a sequel we won't want to miss and doesn't diminish anything from the original.
