Life is more complicated when you're different. Yet the more complicated life is, the more we grow and evolve.
I have embraced the label "Gothic" since I was 16. That path has taught me a lot. The dark energies of the underworld have helped me to heal myself on a deep level. Rooting through my internal darkness and healing my shadow self has brought light into my life. From the underworld of Hades, I rose acompanied by Heremes- as Persephone reborn on a spring day.
My given name is "Korinne" which is the french version of KORE who was also known as PERSEPHONE. Those not familiar with her myth I will give you a very short synopsis.
The Persephone Myth
Kore was a young and lovely maiden- daughter of the Goddess Demeter (or Ceres). One day while Kore was picking flowers the earth opened up and Hades- God of the "Underworld"- snatched the lovely Kore and took her to the underworld for his bride. (How Gothic huh?) After much lamenting on her mothers part- (Demeter caused winter over the whole earth until her daughter was returned to her)- Zeus sent Hermes the messenger of the gods to rescue Persephone from the underworld and restore the fertility of the earth.
Hermes saved Persephone and returned her to Demeter. Although Hades was crafty- he fed Persephone a pomegranate seed- which ensured that she would return to him. Thus Persephone spends half of the year in the underworld and the other half above with her mother. This is where we get the seasons- death and rebirth. Persephone is much like a dying and rising god archetype such as Jesus or Buddha- however there are no story's of her ascension into enlightenment. As far as we know she is still in her seasonal cycle.
I have learned many Kore/Persephone type lessons in my life- I know the Beauty of Darkness and I know the Love of the Light.
My spirit guide who helps me in life and with my psychic gifts is Hermes, who introduced himself to me before I knew what my name meant. Channeling Hermes is one of my favorite parts of being psychic.
