About Me

I was born in Crossville, Tennessee on June 27, 1968 to Ira Homer and Hazel Lillian Reagan. Music was instilled in to me at an early age. I was always around music in some form or fashion, but I never gained much interest in wanting to play an actual instrument till around the age of 9. By this time, my dad had passed away, and it just left my mother and myself. When I turned ten years old, my mother bought me a used Yamaha FG-75 acoustic guitar for $60.00 dollars and got me private lessons from Jeff Plant. Man I was on fire wanting to learn as fast as I could, but my instructor seemed to be going ever so slowly in teaching. My next door neighbor at the time, had a family gospel group and they traveled mainly around the region I was living in. From time to time Mr. Garrett would help me learn some chords on the guitar, plus some little tricks...lol. I got to where I was doing pretty good on a flat top, but as time went I kinda lost interest and wanted to learn something else. As I got older, my mother re-married and we eventually moved to Louisiana. During this time is where I met a dear friend that helped me to learn the bass guitar. Jerry Parkerson of Denham Springs, La. O'le Jerry showed me all the major chords to playing a bass guitar, but never would show me the (what I call "genetics") to playing. He told me that if I wanted it really bad, then I would learn it. Well needless to say, I would listen to tapes, records, and yes even 8-tracks to pick up and learn. As time passed, I was playing in no time and would play for my church. I also was learning different chords on other instruments as well. I would switch from bass guitar to piano in my church. I was also learning drums, but just never could get things to clicking for me. After I graduated high school I moved to Nashville, Tennessee to go to college, but as the old saying goes I was bit by the music bug, and later dropped out and went on the road full time playing professionally in gospel groups as a bass guitarist. I traveled many years playing gospel music. During a stint with a group called "The Allens", I met a blind man who was the drummer for them. His name was Brian Henry. He was the one who taught me what I call the secret to playing drums. Im not a pro on them by no means, but I can keep you in time...lol.In 1999, I was fortunate to pick up endorsements from Samick Guitars and GHS Strings. I am still endorsed by them today. In 2001 I started working with Morningstar records recording artist "Heart Faith". I served as the bass guitarist and road manager for them. In 2004, I had to come off the road to help care for my mother who was very ill.During my down time from the road, I was offered a job with a local country/ southern rock band. I worked with them during the time I came off the road while my mother was sick. I was able to still play music, make a little money, and be home at night to help take care of my mother. After she passed away in July of 2005, I continued on working with them till May of this year. I worked with them for a total of four years. After being let go from them, ( not even 24 hours passes by...lol) I was offered a spot running sound and doing some road managing duties for a man named Steve Warren. Steve works in the southern gospel genre. So I am now officially back in gospel music. Steve travels all over the country doing evangelistic work, as well as doing concerts. Steve is on the Sims Records label. Steve's producer is the legendary Russell Sims. He has produced and recorded many of the major stars in music period. He was the very first person to record and produce the legendary Happy Goodman family in the southern gospel genre. He has also worked with many country greats like Waylon Jennings and many others.I hope that this little bio on me will let you know a little about me and my life musically. If there anything you would like to know more about me, just email me! Thanks for taking some time to read this and God Bless Ya!
