"KODA" was founded in 2003 in Moscow by Daria Shitkova. Daria finished the Music Academy as a classical violinist, but after it she started travelling to the Europenian countries and playing different folk music. Daria plaied in many folk groups until she met Nikolaj Zadvizkij, and they decided to travel and play together.
So, at the very begining there was the duet, which called "Coda", where Daria plaied violine and sang and Nikolaj plaied accordeon, buzuki, vistl, darbuka. First "Coda" had a repertoire, consists of the folk music of Ireland, France, Denmark, Swedan, Bolgaria, Serbia, Makedonia, Ukrain, Hungary and Turkey. In 2004 Daria and Nikolay recorded the first CD "Coda-Folk Music"("Gigant Records").
But Nikolay abandoned "Coda" in 2005 and Daria removed the music group and invited three new musicions. Sience that time "Coda" turned into "KODA" and the members felt a great attraction to the music of Scandinavian countries. So, they decided to learn more, to go deeper into this music directoin.
In 2006 "KODA" recorded its second CD called "Scandinavian suite" and it includes Swedish, Finland and Norway folk music.
Daria Shitkova started playing nyckelharpa and singing norway traditional songs and also her own songs. Time goes, some musicions changed and now "KODA" consists of:

Dmitry Ignatov - bouzouki, bassguitar
Alexander Makarov - djambe, deedjeredu, percussion, overtone flute.
In martch 2008 "KODA" presented its third albom called "Under Nordens Himmel" and it is a CD with the only norway and swedish folk dances and songs and the own songs written by Daria Shitkova. This record is accomplished on "DiomicstudiO" with the support of Norway Embassy in Moscow.
"KODA" plays koncerts on festivals, in clubs, culture centres in Russia and abroad. "KODA" collaborate with "Library and Norwegian Information center" in Moscow. The musicions of "KODA" called the style of there playing - Scandinavian Artfolk. They travel and open the new sound of old traditional tunes, they give a new life to the forgotten folk music.
