My name is Rick Amburgey. I am a 30 year old country music songwriter based in Ohio. I was introduced to country music at an early age. My favorites included Conway Twitty, George Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash and more. As I grew, country music dramatically changed. The traditional sound was infused with pop and rock - and I was immediately a fan of this kind of country as well. I remember hearing these songs on the radio and wanted to touch people like those songs touched me.Some of the songs I write are in the more traditional vein and some are new country. Either way, I write from my heart. Personally, I have been through a lot of life experiences and relationships that have given me much joy and much sadness. My goal is for the listener to understand me a little better once they hear one of my songs.I am a song lyricist. I cannot play any instrument (except the radio) and no one wants to hear my sing. But somehow, I can weave words together to tell a story in a way that has been called "prolific."A song I co-wrote was named honorable mention in the Great American Song Contest in 1999. I also won first place in the Nashville Song Service's country song contest in the Spring of 2007.I have been lucky to find some great co-writers. I am always looking for people to collaborate with on a song. If you'd like to work on one with me, email me at [email protected].
