THE GLAMMED

About Me

And On The 8th day God invented GLAMROCK (because he realized prog-rock was rubbish!)The Story Of The GlammedThe Glammed were formed from the Ashes of The Clash City Rockers. “Cool” Mick Patterson (also ex-Spook & The Ghouls) had, 3 months before their demise, asked Stephen “Waka” Wakefield (ex-Tubesnake & The Creepers) to deputise on drums for The CCRs, as their usual drummer was out of action for a number of months. After only a handful of gigs with Waka on drums The CCRs split, so Mick & Steve decided to form a different band playing 70s glam rock. Why Glam? Cos glam rock is and has always been cool & Glam Rock rools! On bass they chose a friend of Steve’s, his drinking partner, Tommy “Zoom” Barrett, (ex-“Roots Rock Rebel”). They also auditioned a couple of singers but eventually decided that Mick & Steve share vocal duties. Without a drummer on the horizon they rehearsed weekly with a drum machine, until one day they saw an advert on the “Riffs” North East Musicians website for a drummer wanting “dep” work. The drummer turned out to be “Super” Steve Ellis, (ex Small Weller & Floyd 2) who liked the sound that much, decided to join on a permanent basis. So that remains the line-up to this day. They can be found playing their own unique brand of kick-ass glam rock & the occasional cream-of-the-crop new wave classic by artistes as diverse as Bowie, Sailor, Stooges, Sex Pistols, Abba, Slade, Roxy Music, T. Rex, Magazine The Rubettes & The Clash, in pubs around the North East Of England. There currently exists a live promo CD and very shortly they will be unleashing some studio tracks. Later in the year there will be an E.P. of original material. They are also currently after a keyboard player but only Ron Mael need apply!
