During the long & snowy winter of 2008, RONNYMAN started to work on some songs that he performed during parties along with some cover tunes from the likes of The Pogues, Johnny Cash, and John Denver. He quickly realized that people seemed to memorize the lyrics easily. He decided to record some songs that would eventually appear on his first album "THE FOLK BASTARD". The album was self-financed and sold by RONNYMAN himself as the first step of a true Do-It-Yourself tradition. He then added D. on guitar and OLI on upright bass and became known as THE FOLK BASTARDS, a name that would stick to them and their dedicated following. The band did some shows in Sherbrooke during the summer, but in September 2008, OLI left the band. RONNYMAN & THE FOLK BASTARDS were back to their roots as a two-piece band until they added J-P on percussions in November. The band released their second album in January 2009 and shortly after its release, hired THR BARON on bass to form a complete 4-piece band evolving into a blues-rock-folk fusion.
Pendant le long et froid hiver 2008, RONNYMAN a commence a ecrire quelques chansons qu'il aura l'occasion de jouer lors de fetes entre amis en plus de quelques chansons des Pogues, Johnny Cash, John Denver etc... Il se rendit vite compte que les gens semblaient memoriser les paroles rapidement. Il decida donc d'enregistrer quelques chansons qui parurent sur son premier album "THE FOLK BASTARD". L'album fut completement finance par RONNYMAN lui-meme, initiant les premiers pas d'une tradition d'auto-production. Il decida donc de se joindre a D. a la guitar et OLI a la contrebasse pour former "THE FOLK BASTARDS", un nom qui leur collera a la peau ainsi qu'a leurs fans devoues. Le groupe a joue quelques spectacles a Sherbrooke durant l'ete, mais en septembre 2008, OLI quitta le groupe. RONNYMAN & THE FOLK BASTARDS etaient donc de retour aux sources en tant qu'un groupe compose de seulement deux membres jusqu..a l..arrivee de J-P aux percussions. Le groupe a lance son 2ieme album en janvier 2009 et peu de temps après, s..ajoute LE BARON à la basse pour former un groupe de 4 membres évoluant vers une fusion de blues-rock et folk.
