IF YOU ARE IN CRISIS, PLEASE CALL 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the leading not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those impacted by suicide!
Nearly 85 cents of every dollar goes directly to The AFSP's programs of research, education and survivor services.
Annually, The AFSP holds several fundraisers including The Out Of The Darkness Overnight (which will be held this year in Chicago, Illinois on June 27th and 28th). Participants raise donations and then walk 20 miles starting at dusk and ending at dawn to honor loved ones they have lost to suicide, raise awareness about suicide and mental illness and to save lives! For more information on the overnight walks, please go to WWW.THEOVERNIGHT.ORG.
Similarly, The AFSP holds local community Out Of The Darkness Walks around the country. These walks are from between 3-5 miles long. This year, besides the annual community walk at Crissy Field in San Francisco, the Northern California chapter of the AFSP has added several new walk sites in Sacramento, Santa Clara County, Merced and Oakland. The dates are listed at the following web site: Go to WWW.OUTOFTHEDARKNESS.ORG for more information on getting involved in one of these community walk near you! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER FOR TO HELP OUT AT THE SAN FRANCISCO WALK AT CRISSY FIELD, PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THIS SITE OR EMAIL [email protected].
