Maria Malibran, Romantic cult icon/Prima Donna, has risen from the grave to give you all your daily dosages of BEL CANTO! Maria Malibran proudly presents to you The Bel Canto Funhouse: a place for all admirers of Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti, and all their faithful interpreters—a grand celebration of the old, Italian florid style of singing!
Born March 24, 1808 into the famed Garcia family of singers, Maria Malibran aspired to become one of the world's most highly regarded, temperamental divas of the operatic stage. After a horse riding accident, Malibran died at the age of 28, yet, even in death, the great Romantic heroine provided inspiration to great artists such as Chopin, Donizetti, Liszt, Mendelssohn, and Rossini.
