About Me
At the age of twelve, Rhodaine “Rhodie†Wallace was already a budding percussionist competing in the Battle of the Bands before he even entered high school. Once he graduated, Rhodie began experimenting with rock, pop, and industrial sounds, infusing the various elements and honing his personal style. While visiting relatives in Europe in 2002, Rhodie got heavy into the garage scene and began performing live gigs both overseas and stateside, wherever he went. Once back in Miami, Rhodie started dabbling in various local projects and joined the band Animals of the Arctic. Afterwards, Rhodie began getting serious about his music career and started playing at larger live show venues throughout South Florida. In 2007, he joined Purple Popcorn, another rock-inspired group created by Styles and Blackout. In 2008, Styles and Blackout sought to expand their vision and created their latest project, Solar Mesh, and asked Rhodie to join. Rhodie’s percussion style is heavily influenced by his travels, diverse musical tastes, and Jamaican background. “I love to keep the dynamics different. I always like to incorporate different flavors, start it off with a nice reggae beat and pick it up into a hard metal rhythm and then smooth it back out. That’s what I like to do and that’s what I bring.â€
