The Transoceanic Orchestra Tour is a cultural project conceived by young musicians and artists from around the world. Our orchestra consists of 15 members, who come from places as different as Chile, India, Uganda, Estonia, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, France, and Belgium.
We will tour all the way from Europe, by train, to the pacific coast of Asia. On the way there, we will give concerts and performances of traditional music, as well as offering workshops at schools and culture centers all along the way. We will also document and incorporate elements of local culture to our performance as our tour unfolds. Once back in Europe, we will present our travel not only as a collection of anecdotes, but in shape of a performance, which will be based on the artistic journey made throughout the project.
The goal is not only to perform for the local audiences, but to actually incorporate them to our project, thus establishing a strong cultural connection and providing the ground for future links to become stronger and more active in terms of cultural exchange and collaboration. We are convinced that this project will result in many new possibilities and ideas of collaboration between the already very active European-based cultural network and the more remote communities of Eurasia, Siberia and the Far East.
All members of the Orchestra are active in representing their cultures both locally and abroad. They have been mentors and organizers of music festivals and similar events. As much as it is important for us to share our own local traditions and culture with our audiences, we are very interested in incorporating their own cultural traditions in our performances. This way, the tour becomes a living organism that changes and grows with each stop.
