A drummer and a friend!

About Me

- I was born in Hong Kong.
- My family moved to Anderson, Indiana.
- I began taking drum lessons to learn how to play for the junior high school band. (My first drum teacher was Jeff McLaughlin--brother to Jon McLaughlin.)
- I wanted to learn how to play the drumset so that I could join the junior high jazz band. I also began playing with my church youth band and giving drum lessons.
- I started high school marching band. This was the year I started my first garage band. We attempted a lot of punk. We wrote our first song called “Soul Beat of my Life”.
- My next drum teacher, Dane Clark (drummer for John “Cougar” Mellencamp) began kicking my butt.
- I started playing at church with Jon McLaughlin.
- I went to Berklee College of Music.
- I decided to move back to Indiana to be closer to my girlfriend. I began playing with Jon McLaughlin again.
- My girlfriend and I got married and moved to Nashville, Tennessee. I continued school at Belmont University, studying drums with Chester Thompson (Genesis, Phil Collins, Frank Zappa) and Derico Watson (Victor Wooten).
- I started playing for Matt Wertz, Dave Barnes, and MikesChair. Jon McLaughlin signed with Island Def Jam Records.
- Matt Wertz signed with Universal Records. My drumming can be heard on his major label debut.
