What the ordinary birthday may turn into if it coincides with the tenth breakup anniversary of old school band which consisted of four friends gathered on the traditional picnic?
Old stresses and old offences rise up again. The birthday became the train of duels – physical and moral. Friends don’t spare each other. And another winner immediately found himself defeated.
“29 kilometer†is provocation. The director’s main idea is to reach a presence effect. Any viewer must be a participant of the doings – swearing, violence, tears of broken dreams, complaining about own lives etc., must pass over the soul decay of the characters and consider for a moment neither his (her) life came to a standstill.
The film is based on the real events. Upon the play of the same name by Leonid Andronov.
Interesting facts:
1) One of the episodes was shot at Old New Rock Festival 2008 in Ekaterinburg, on stage and in the backstage. 2) One of the episodes was shot near the place where was killed last Russian Emperor.
