Robby Seibert is an original founding father of The Atmosferics. His musical career started when he was 16 years old, as he was spotted playing his saxophone on the corner of Union Place and Beechwood Ave. in Summit, NJ, right across from the train station. Billy Binford, a local blues musician heard Robby playing and asked if he would play with his band the following weekend. Robby had his first taste of improvising in front of a crowd, and the "high" of connecting with said crowd. After that taste, he needed more. Robby went on to form South Street Jazz Machine, with jazz phenom, Joe Elefante a year later. Robby continued to play with SSJM for a few years, in between short stints at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, and Berklee College of Music in Boston. Robby eventually "hung up the shoes" for a year and a half. This period was one of reflection and change. Six months before his wedding, he surprised his bride-to-be with news that he decided it was time to answer his true calling, music. The next day, he recieved a call from his sister informing him of a band looking for a saxophonist. In following his belief in all things happen for a reason, he joined that band. The Midnight Dip had a short but exciting life, gracing the stages of The Stone Pony, and Starland Ballroom. After a personnel change, Robby was reunited with Kevin Hildebrandt, a phenomanal guitarist he had met 10 years earlier at Eastman School of Music's jazz camp. The Midnight Dip eventually melded into The Atmosferics. Over three years later, and a few more personnel changes, Atmosferics is a functioning band, entertaining audiences with intense jams on a regular basis. Atmosferics has had the pleasure of opening for Stanton Moore Trio, and Charlie Hunter, Bobby Previte, Robert Walter, Juggling Suns, and many other fantastic musicians. The future is yet to be determined, but rest assured, Robby will play music until his fingers fall off.....
