Influences: The now defunct, New York-based hard-rock outfit Among Thieves formed in the fall of 1999. The quartet was comprised of singer Rob Brock, guitarist Scott Roberts (ex-Spudmonsters, Biohazard & Bloodclot), bassist Alan Robert (Life of Agony & Spoiler NYC), and drummer Danny Schuler (Biohazard & Bloodclot). Drummer, Will Shepler of Agnostic Front appeared on the group's earlier demos.
Within six months of forming, the band had written and recorded enough original compositions to issue a self-financed CD, and played regularly on the East Coast. While there were still some hardcore roots detected in Among Thieves' sound, the band were primarily influenced by down-tuned rock legends such as Black Sabbath and Soundgarden. By late 2001, Among Thieves were looking to secure a record deal and began showcasing in New York, while climbing rock radio charts nationwide. The band grabbed attention by appearing on both the Album Network and CMJ charts with their demos (as well as receiving praise in such publications such as Metal Edge, Metal Maniacs, and Metal Hammer).
The band recorded several tracks with acclaimed producer Michael Barbiero (Metallica & Guns N Roses) which led to the signing to Daymare Recordings/Warner Bros. Japan, who released their debut CD "Beginning of the End" and the live record "Soundscam." These records were only available in Japan until now!
