Those who have felt the crushing hollowness of a life devastated by addiction, mental illness, death, loss, fear, shame, guilt, loneliness, emptiness, hopelessness, helplessness, and for those who can't hold on, who feel like giving up. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Please Please feel these words, just beneath the surface of your skin, where you can feel the whisper of a God who cares. Hope exists! We almost gave up once, actually many times. Too crippled to go on, fragile, weak, not even able to crawl to the next step, like little children, curled in a ball, trying hold on through the darkness, while thoughts of giving up, and suicide beat at the door of our will. Like lightening cracking through a tortured sky, breaking through the very lives we despised (our own), came the gentle awakening that God truly did care, and cared about us. We cannot tell you how it is that we understand that, but for those of us who have lived in the cold hell of traveling through a dark tunnel, wet, cold, endless, lonely and frightening, we understand the paralyzing numbing bitterness of feeling like there is nothing left, and nowhere left to go. YOUR LIFE, is precious. How do we know? We only know how worthless ours felt! We have beat off the thoughts that felt like cat fights in a paper bag, only to have them return. We have hope to share...."we are powerless over these things" But there is one who is not. Yes the seas of crushing waves of pain beating down on us, nearly drowned us. But there is a God who calmed the seas....HE CALMED THE SEAS.. (the storms, the hurricanes of our life)... If we could only hold you till the storms passed, and hold you till you were safe...but HE can, God can!!!!!!!! it takes but one gentle quiet cry ...."I am powerless over this, and my life is unmanagable"....."I need you God, a power greater than me to restore me to, or to even give me, the sanity I have never had". That prayer is not mine, but one of a very special man who found that the power of God was the only thing that could pluck so many of us from the long reaching fingers of addiction, and mental illness that can wrap itself around the soul. He is there for the broken hearted. For those who are broken, he brings peace..Mathew 5 ....................
