Underdog Rescue was started in 2000 by Shannon McKenzie. While working for other animal rescue groups, she found that many animals were passed over, and saw the need for a rescue group to take in bully breeds, and other "underdogs."
Thus, she founded Underdog Rescue of MN. We work with Minneapolis Animal Control and rescue approximately 1-3 "underdogs" each week. Over the last seven years, Underdog Rescue has placed almost 1850 dogs and cats into loving homes. This is thanks largely in part to our volunteers, supporters, and the amazing work of the officers and staff at Minneapolis Animal Control!
