About Me

Special thanks for the ONTARIO ARTS COUNCIL for their support of Hayley Stark!

Some things are meant to be said - others are meant to be sung.
Toronto based singer-songwriter duo Jennifer Bryan and Monica Julie make this sentiment a reality with their acoustic guitars and sly lyrics. Their songs follow life's rollercoaster, capturing the essence of rock-bottom one moment and the top of the world at another. Since early 2008, this talented duo has slaved over their guitars, combining everything they've ever loved or hated to create dynamic songs that speak to the complexity of everyday life. 2009 has found them cutting their teeth at live gigs and winning hearts all over town.
Merging years of experience as fellow band members and a willingness to push boundaries on this new path, Monica and Jennifer integrate their strength as partners with a freshness and vitality that drives every verse. Drawing from a multitude of different genres, Hayley Stark is a band based in renewal and reformation, leading you down familiar paths even as they turn new corners.

Band Members: When she’s not working with Hayley Stark, singer and jazz-trained guitarist Jennifer Bryan is a roaring girl in every sense of the phrase. Borrowing from her experience as lead guitar phenom in a host of metal bands, you can catch her lending her skills to popular Toronto-based band The Roaring Girl Cabaret at swank establishments around the city.
Far from a one-string wonder, Monica Julie is well-known for her multi-faceted musical expertise. She captivated crowds as a technical and hard-hitting metal drummer in the bands Spankdriven, Bound Ether and In the Wake and now rocks crowds as a vocalist/guitarist for Hayley Stark.
