Joey Chickenskin

I'm Joey Chickenskin and I operate out of Bobbers Mill, Nottingham NG7. I'm the singer in the band Ball Bag and one day it was my friend Anton's birthday so I wrote a song about him being the MOTHERFUCKING MANTON. Anton then asked me to support Hammel on Trial (this makes me FAMOUS because Hammel on Trial has supported Ani Difranco and Ani Difranco has supported BOB DYLAN which means I'm two promotions away from BEING BOB DYLAN). I did some songs and told some jokes and made some errors and that's pretty much what I do now. I've played about 20 times in Nottingham, sometimes at open mic shows which RULE, quite often at Raffles Cafe's Acoustic night which RULES and sometimes supporting at gigs at venues including Rock City (the little room - but it was good enough for Reverend Horton Heat AND Rage Against the Machine), The Rescue Rooms (I supported Chumbawumba you know and it was £11 to see me), The Social, The Maze , Cabaret, Synergy (no really), Spiders (Kashmir RIP), The Pit and Pendulum, Junction 7, The Old Vic (it's not a swap because it wasn't Cabaret then), the Social and for about 20 minutes I had a large Afro-Caribbean following when it rained hard at the Rock n Reggae Festival and i was playing in a tent. Sadly by my next show, that audience had moved on to other things. A highlight for me is having a sound man take my guitar off me, tune it and give it back after I spent 10 minutes not being able to get it in tune. I once ran Song writing master class and printed 150 certificates to give to the audience who attended but gave out 14 (the whole audience), I also took 3 boxes of 18 mince pies to My Christmas set at Kashmir at Spiders and gave out 9 to the whole audience and had three names on my mailing list for a FREE CD of the set. i don't mind it when hardly anyone shows up, it's sometimes nice. I have appeared in the evening post when I compered the Rescue Rooms 1st Birthday show and picture had 'Stelios look-alike...' under it and my NAME appeared under a REAL MUSICIAN's picture after the Tsunami event at Rock City who must have been pretty upset. I have also had a review in a fanzine which was quite positive however it reffered to me as a 'Moylesesque Lardass' and 'Endearingly Retarded'. The reviewer must have remembered being positive but not the insults when he GAVE ME a copy of the fanzine. I read it out at the next show.
