"Jonathan ~ Hope you have a great New Year-congrats on ending the year as the most popular indie artist we played in 2006! Blessings, Steve ~ New Horizon's Radio"
MODEL, PAMELA K. with 'UNCONVENTIONAL'
"Just a quick hey to a great talent! Nashville is lucky to have you here--God will use you in amazing ways to touch those here in Nashville and worldwide...I just feel it! xoxo, Pam"
"...Well they just don't know, what's going on, might be hanging by a thread, well the mystery soon, will be revealed you know, might be worth hanging on instead..."(from song: 'he will come').
With his unique style coupled with words that beg you to dig deeper and parallel the journey of one who has patiently walked through the desert experience, Jonathan Conrad brings the true heart of peace and understanding to these experiences through his music. The songs, many prophetic in nature, have touched peoples lives and brought to life what the heart desires to know in such experiences.
In June 2006, Jonathan Conrad was the Artist Spotlight in the eMagazine called The Christian Pulse, written by Aaron S. Harris: This month I decided to change the genre and introduce a Christian musician with a folk/acoustic vibe. Jonathan Conrad has been playing guitar since he was 14 years old. He wrote his first song at age 17 and has been honing his skill ever since. He was recently featured on a pod cast called "The Morning Commute" hosted by Eric Vardeman.
When Jonathan is not performing in the Atlanta area, he is creating new material. His style is unique and all his own. Jonathan intrigues listeners with lyrics that fuel you to dig deeper. His style incorporates solid guitar playing with words that paint pictures in the minds of those who listen closely. Jonathan's love for Christ is really the driving factor that motivates his passion for music.
Some of Jonathan's influences over the years have been: Mark Knopfler, whose guitar has inspired many melodies; Marc Cohn, and Kevin Prosch from The Black Peppercorns. Albums by Bob Dylan, John Hiatt, and Tom Petty provide some of the inspiration for this young musician.
TCP: What was the first song you wrote?
jC: Cross Country California
TCP: What was your inspiration for "Cross Country California"?
jC: A friend and I had planned a climbing trip to Southern California to climb Mt. Whitney. It would be an eight pitch climb, with rope and gear. The trip fell through but the memory of it lives on through the song.
TCP: What album have you listened to most in the past year?
jC: Best of Runrig (Band from Scotland)
TCP: What suggestions would you give to people who want to start performing live?
jC: SEEK JESUS. "Apart from Me you can do no-thing." This is not just something fun for me to do. When I perform, it has purpose and my purpose comes from my intimate relationship with Christ.
TCP: Have you faced any road blocks from being a Christian artist?
jC: Road blocks are only to be expected in the Christian life, especially from peers. If you are of the light, you are very visible to those in darkness and many times, those in darkness want to have nothing to do with you. Keep praising Christ, that's all that matters.
Jonathan has been focusing his time lately on fine-tuning his material. And, he will be making his way to Nashville soon to record a Demo CD. He is in the process of recording new songs including 'I Don't Want To Lose', 'Crashing Down', 'You Won't Be Alone', 'He Will Come', and 'I've Tried' .
