About Me

Increasingly regarded as one of the most significant socially relevant genres of contemporary art, Hiphop is so much more than just music genre. It is a 30 year-old cultural movement in which highly skilled artists, the majority street trained or self taught, use distinctive styles of dance, music, theater and visual art to address issues of social or political concern. ___________________________________________________________ So what is P.A.T.H.? ___________________________________________________________P .A.T.H. (Preserving Archiving and Teaching Hiphop History), is a company founded by Miami emcee and grassroots Hiphop activist Brimstone127. As a performer, producer, and engineer Brimstone has earned credits with MATISYAHU, KRS-ONE, BLACK SHEEP, JUNGLE BROTHERS, THE CURE, NELLY FURTADO, FAT JOE, DJ PREMIERE, 9TH WONDER, and more. =============================================== =============================================== P.A.T.H. offers educational Hiphop programs to youth in the form of apprenticeships, summer programs, after-school programs, panel discussions, workshops, lectures, and performances. P.A.T.H. also coordinates special events including Bboy/Bgirl (break-dance) parties and competitions, concerts, festivals, and art shows. =============================================== =============================================== P.A.T.H. launched its first summer apprenticeship program in June 2008. The P.A.T.H. apprenticeship has been designed to increase awareness of the breadth and richness of Hiphop culture. The participants, teens ages 14 to 18, were taught Hiphop history and philosophy and introduced to the four elements of Hiphop: Urban Arts, Emceeing (Rapping), Deejaying, and B-boying or B-girling (commonly known as break dancing). Award-winning filmmaker Dan Perez, filmed a documentary featuring the program, which will be premiered in spring of 2008. ============================================================ ==================================== The participants received daily lessons from Miami’s most talented artists, dancers, and performers including Soulflower, Krave Art, DJ Immortal and Scratch Academy, and Beta Rawkz, as well as an impressive slew of guest speakers. These speakers included Hiphop pioneer DJ Grandmaster Dee of Whodini, DJ Epps, Spider Loc of G-UNIT, DJ Magic, LEBO, Faisal Tavernier of Urban America Network, Entertainment Attorney Marlon Hill, Def Poetry Jam’s Kirk Nugent, Mecca, and Triple Seven.______________________________________________________ ___There are many ways to get involved with P.A.T.H.! We offer sponsorship packages for our programs and events, lectures, afterschool and summer programs, performances and more. Some of our past and current contributors are Carnival Cruise Lines, the City of Miami Dade, The Russell Simmons Foundation, The Children's Trust, Hugo Diaz (The DiazBros) and Miami Light Project.
