Mel-Tone is a music shop located in Melton Mowbray.
We have supplied the surrounding area for the past 24 years and are growing in every way each day.
The shop was set up back in 1983 by a young Tony Riffugiato, with humble aspirations in a rural Leicestershire town.
After having moved location to bigger premises on King Street in 1998, Mel-Tone was soon becoming one of the most respected music shops in the country.
Stocking Guitars from Fender to Ibanez, Drums from Mapex to Premier and a wide range of Brass and Woodwind instruments, as well as hosting a large selection of printed music.
All was going well for Tony and the shop he had nurtured for so many years had matured and grown into so much more than anticipated.
On the 23rd of January 2005 at 8.00pm an electrical fire scorched it's way through Mel-Tone leaving nothing but smouldering guitars and smoke damaged stock. A fire causing this much destruction would usually result in a business closing for good, but Tony was not prepared to let this happen and was determined to get Mel-Tone through this trying time. The fire resulted in Mel-Tone temporarily moving location to an old post office site just around the corner from where the current shop was. After the fire the King Street shop got a makeover; a brand new lay-out and a fresh décor to suit the refreshed and excited staff. With a whole selection of brand new stock Tony began to build back what he had lost.
Almost 25 years after Mel-Tone first opened it's doors to the public Mel-tone is now stronger than ever.
