About Me

The above image is a commissioned piece and a work in progress. I'll update the progress from time to time until it is completed.

For full-service web design, find me at live2create.com To view my personal design/illustration portfolio and resume, visit: Zone13 Design

I enjoy creating, studying, and viewing art, and also have an interest in politics, history, and video games. There was a time you'd find me bouncing around 5 Points or the Vista once in a while, but now I'm married, relatively settled down, and constantly working.

I am an artist, graphic designer, and web developer... I and my partners can provide full service web development, marketing support, and collateral design of all types (Web 2.0, logos, brochures, identity packages, vehicle graphics, posters, CD covers, original illustration, displays, t-shirt design etc.)

I'm also available for fine art commissions... portraits, drawings, paintings... whatever you've imagined you would like to see brought to life in oil paint or any other medium.

My Interests

painting, drawing, design, museums, weekend travel, movies, cooking, quality time with my wife (though she doesn't get enough), and the company of good friends.

I'd like to meet:

I am also the President of a group called About Face. About Face has existed for 12 years. We are a portrait, figure, and plein air art study group that is an official affiliate of the Columbia Museum of Art. We have about 80 registered members, of which about 40 members are regularly active. We are always in need of women and men of varying body types who are willing to model for our figure study sessions. The sessions are in the Columbia Museum of Art and conducted in a tasteful, safe, and respectful manner. We pay models $20 an hour for figure modeling, $15 an hour for portrait.
For artists (or amateurs with a burgeoning interest) who would like to get involved, check out the link above. AF Members can vote on issues affecting the group and also get to participate in our group shows, including our month-long annual display of work inside the Columbia Museum of Art.

Music:

Random tastes.. grew up on 70's rock and 80's music. I enjoy Bluegrass, though I'm not a country fan. My car radio is usually tuned to NPR, but some of the bands I really enjoy include Nickel Creek, Damien Rice, DMB, BareNakedLadies, Jack Johnson, Jimmy Eat World, Jason Mraz, White Stripes, Postal Service, Frou Frou, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, U2, Coldplay, The Beatles, spanish/flamenco guitar, Sinead O'Connor, etc. Random stuff.

Movies:

Yup. I love movies. Man, I can't list 'em all... too many I've enjoyed, but already forgot all the details... too many more I still want to see.

Television:

I watch maybe 2 or 3 hours of TV a month. If I am looking at a television, it's because I'm playing Xbox or watching a movie.

Books:

I freakin' love the Harry Potter series! Though I enjoy reading, I rarely make time for it any more. A shame, I know. (Managed to read Deathly Hallows though.) Favorite authors include Tom Robbins, Isaac Asimov, Clive Barker, and James Clavell. Shogun is probably my favorite stand-alone book of all time.

Heroes:

Heroes???? That seems an odd category for some reason. I really admired Ghandi when I was young. There are a lot of artists from history whose work I admire, but I wouldn't call them heroes. My grandfather was an amazing man, and I've always admired him too. He was hard-working, driven, brilliant, and very creative. And my grandmother is the sweetest, kindest woman I've ever known. If there is only one slot left in Heaven, it's being saved for her.
