Spirituality of all kinds - not just Judaism - including but not limited to shamanism, paganism, Wicca, Hinduism, Buddism, Suffism, etc. Music of all flavors. Learning about this world in which we live.
People who are on their own spiritual path and are respectful of others' journeys. People who share in the great joy of life, but who also acknowledge and embrace their dark side.
I love all types of music. When I listen to music I try not to judge it based on the genre, but on whether or not I enjoy it.I enjoy everything from ABBA to Zappa. I have quite the extensive CD collection. I am currently listening to the new Audioslave CD, Revelations. It is very good. I love that heavy bass-driven rock! I am also listening to Justin Timberlake's new CD. Yes, I love it, too!
I rarely go see movies, but I do enjoy renting movies. I like to watch stuff that isn't the norm. I love raunchy, disgusting humor (just like a 12-year old). I also enjoy sci fi, and drama. I am not really into violence, but can deal with it if it is important for the plot.I recently saw that new movie, "Stranger than Fiction." It was good, but not as funny as I thought it would be. Will Ferrel was surprisingly good as a straight actor.
I don't watch too much mainstream TV. I do admit I have a weakness for Survivor and I usually watch it. I have recently discovered the joy of watching TV on DVD. My best friend, Alissa, turned me on to the new Battlestar Gallactica. I also love Firefly and the British version of Coupling. I also enjoy the new "classics" like Seinfeld and Will and Grace.
I enjoy reading mostly non-fiction books. I love anything about spirituality and conscious evolution. I also enjoy books that question authority. I am currently reading a book called, "The Lost Goddess", which centers on the role of Mary Magdalaine in Christianity, or rather, the role the authors believe she was supposed to have, versus the role she ended up having. I am also reading "The Essential Kabbalah" by Daniel Matt and "To Be a Jew" by Rabbi Donin. Some of my favorite books include, "Honey From the Rock" by Lawrence Kushner, "The Seven Beggars", stories as told by the great Rebbe Nachman of Breslov - a Chassidic rabbi who lived about 150 years ago. I also love "Skinny Legs and All" by Tom Robbins.I also enjoy reading books on physics, such as Brian Greene's book, "The Elegant Universe", and the joining of physics with metaphysics, such as Daniel Matt's book, "God and the Big Bang."What can I say, I am a huge geek.
My heroes include my mother, and my Super Best Friend, Alissa, for being so fierce and teaching me the true meaning of unconditional love.
