BIO:
The beginning of K8, ran by Wesley Edwards, was anything but intended. The equipment was not bought yet gathered up along the way, the recorded artists were friends, and the songs layed down were for fun. Yet as months went by and the quality of the equipment and the actual output of songs improved, the establishment of studio K8 was inevitable. By 2006, the amount of material recorded was mounting.
Wesley states, “Well we’ve sure come a long way from ‘Trusty Productions’,†(which was named after the computer mic ‘Trusty’ that was originally used to lay down tracks.)Today the number of artists who choose to record at K8, located in the small town of Martin Tennessee, spread through west Tennessee and down to Mississippi. So why are people seeking out K8?Carolyn Flood, an artist out of Nashville currently working on putting together a full album with Edwards, states “I like working with Wes mostly because I know that he truly listens to what I want. And he’ll work and won’t quit until the kind of sound I’m looking for is achieved. We put our heart and souls in it and then some.â€The final products that come out of at K8 range across musical genres-varying from bluegrass, country, Christian, and rock. When asked what kinds of goals are set for the music produced at K8 Wesley responds, “I set out for a clean sound. One where everything is blended, unified, and understood. I try and avoid overproducing and cluttering up the song. Songs are about a message, and it’s my job to get that message across.â€The songs that come out of K8 are proof of the amount of dedication that goes into them. Outlook into the future for this new studio looks bright. As Wesley concludes, “I’m sure many more late night jam sessions are going to go down here and all I hope for is enough Red Bull to handle it.â€******************************************************
