Hello my viewers,
My name is Emeka Ugoh and I am the first teacher of Mxtreme’s School of Drummers, I am 20 years old, played the acoustic drum kit for several years and extremely passionate about my instrument. I am currently completing a BA Hons Degree in Music which I am using to take my musical endeavours to a higher level. I have also taught at Dadson's Music School in Crystal Palace at Kingswood House, where most of my teachings skills developed and encouraged me to succeed on my own.
In my journey of drumming I have progressed very well, but I have always wished I had started at a very young age of three years old, because now I have realised the truth of the ever echoing saying of “The younger you start, the betterâ€. This is mainly why I would like to give the opportunity for young and old, passionate and ambitious drummers in the making to pick up the skills I have learned at their age making them more equipped for the musical world. Because if they learn this at this young age it will be effortless to perform these skills at my age, ergo making them inexorably better players. My ambition for each student is to provide a secure basis of using the instrument enabling them to use each part of the drum kit. But the high light of these exercises will not restrict them to the acoustic drums only, but they can also use these skills on the African drums including congas and many percussion instruments allowing my students to be more versatile securing success somewhere for them within the music industry. In the lessons more than basics are taught as the students’ progress which is analysed by me on a weekly basis; allowing me to give students individual feedback on the elements of the sessions they can work on in the lessons and at home. The syllabus of the lessons includes:The Introduction to drums
Sounds and its uses
Finger, wrist & arm posture exercises
Rudiments & Patterns
Structured beats (with beat and bar allocations)
Drum Rolls
Song Escalation & Reduction (in performances)This is what I will be providing to the students as the syllabus continues. I am very confident I can teach my students all they need to know to get started and make and continue their journey with their instrument. One of the most important things is that everyone and anyone is welcome and I make sure that I take time to really make sure my students get the exercises and are comfortable with it so they can practice them at home as well. This is so they are not feeling on their own in this course because I am there to help and answer any queries they might have. Concordantly, I make my lessons fum for all ages because it's easier to lear when there is no pressure and also.. time fly by when you are having fun, so come join!Hope to teach you or somebody you know soon!Emeka Ugoh (Drum Course Leader)
